Please call me Lana; it’s my nickname, and it’s so much easier to pronounce. I am a qualified Registered Practicing Dietitian passionate about empowering my clients to make their health goals a reality. Making lifestyle changes is rarely straightforward, so I dedicate myself to working with my clients to understand their life and provide practical advice personalized and tailored to each unique person. By setting small achievable realistic health behaviour changes for my clients, I help them sustain their healthy habits lifelong.
With my expert knowledge in the interaction between food, nutrients and our health, I consult a range of conditions, including weight management, insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, NIDDM, heart disease and PCOS. I have a strong interest in chronic disease prevention and enjoy helping clients plan their menus.
What kind of personal experience do I have dealing with the conditions above? There is a genetic predisposition for type 2 diabetes on my paternal side and I have been successful staying within normal A1C ranges through diet and movement. My husband has cardiovascular disease, and one of my daughters has PCOS. My family menus are planned to provide a variety of healthy dishes with lots of flavor. I cook Mediterranean, Thai, Chinese, and Indian as well as Western foods.
In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, woodcarving, and teaching cooking classes at my community centre.
